5" tall (13cm), 3" wide (8cm). An Art Nouveau stoneware plaque, cast from an ancient carving. Unglazed raised stoneware in an ancient style, a soldier or warrior with square shield and club-like weapon despicted next to an ancient wagon wheel. Stamped to back ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND. Mott was responsible for several important innovations including unusual lustre and flambe effects.

He was given permission to make a ceramic mould from an original Celtic carving. Less than fifty were reportedly made. An essential collector's piece. In very good antique condition.
