The upper portion of this antique match striker retains the original, detachable plain hallmarked sterling silver mount. The underside the body bears the Royal Doulton backstamp, in addition to the registration number'5435'. Such large examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
This mark was used to celebrate the grant of the Royal Warrant to Doulton in 1901 by King Edward VII and incorporated the word'England' until the 1920s. This antique Royal Doulton match striker mount is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition in keeping with age. The Royal Doulton body has two minor surface blemishes. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount are all very clear.
