An early example of patterned Royal Doulton flambe ware dating around 1925. It has a very attractive prunus blossom design in red flambe over the mottled deep blue sung glazed ground. It has the early style of Doulton Flambe mark to the base, although the Sung mark is not present. The vase is in the Oriental shape, fitting given the cherry blossom decoration. The sung glaze was of course pioneered at Doulton by Charles Noke. A couple of scratches in the glaze around the center and minor wear. Factory grinding of glaze overspill around the base. Height: 13 cm (5 1/8 inch) Width: 12.7 cm (5 inch) Weight: 430 grams (before packing) Stock Code: 1763 JL19-2.
